Kirby Kay grew up a Suzuki kid and is now a Suzuki mother and teacher who co-founded West County Strings in St. Louis, MO in 2013. In 2017, she began and continues to develop a Suzuki in the Schools program at the Fulton School at St. Albans. Kirby enjoys summer teaching at places such as Colorado Suzuki Institute, American Suzuki Institute, Midwest Young Artists Chamber Music Workshop, Sprunger Violin Camp and all the opportunities to meet new young musicians across the country. Upon graduation from the University of Illinois, Kirby pursued training at the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, American Suzuki Institute and the Chicago Suzuki Institute. Kirby completed the Child Development Program at the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute. Kirby’s students have held leadership positions in the St. Louis Youth Orchestra, Missouri All-State Orchestra, were featured with the St. Charles Symphony, and hold community outreach concerts.
