“Creating the Future Together 2007,” SAA’s seventh Leadership Retreat, brought together 170 Suzuki members and friends from the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Peru, and Argentina. The event was held at the Nottawasaga Resort in Alliston, Ontario, about an hour north of Toronto. We were treated with sumptuous meals, inspiring sessions and entertainment, but most of all, everyone made new connections within the Suzuki family of colleagues and friends. In attendance were teachers, teacher trainers, institute directors, chapter and program leaders, SAA Board members, 2008 Conference Team members, and other aspiring leaders, young and not so young. It was delightful to have over 40 Canadian members in attendance and to enjoy many sessions delivered by Canadian members and speakers.
Many thanks go to our two sponsors: the Suzuki Association of Ontario (Elayne Ras, President) and SoundPost, dealer of instruments, music and supplies, from Toronto. Both SAO and SoundPost added an important dimension to the weekend; their involvement and support was greatly appreciated.
Thanks to the staff (especially Jenny Ferenc and Terra Fulkerson), and to the SAA Board members, all of whom played key roles in the weekend events. Very special thanks to Gail Lange and Paule Barsalou for their many ideas and contributions to the planning and their attention to details, small and large.
Throughout the weekend, there were numerous opportunities for sharing ideas in sessions and in small group breakouts and chatting at meals. Every person present participated and played a role in the weekend’s success. Thank you! Program information and a list of facilitators and speakers can be found on the SAA website for all who are interested.
