Timothy Hager
Violin, Viola Teacher, Parent
Timothy Hager believes strongly in the power of high quality musical instruction to enrich the lives of children of any age. In addition to building musical skills, playing a string instrument develops mental concentration and physical coordination. Parental involvement in lessons and home practice strengthens the relationship between students and their parents. Most importantly, the joy of learning to play a musical instrument helps children create beauty and happiness in their lives.
Students of Mr. Hager participate in a variety of enriching musical programs including the Illinois Music Educators Associations Orchestra, Chicago Area Youth Symphonies, and Suzuki Summer Institutes. Students attend one private and one group lesson per week. The private lesson is where new concepts and techniques are introduced one on one, while the group class provides a social setting for reviewing and reinforcing familiar material. Timothy is currently teaching students three years of age and older at NMS’s Loop Location, Oak Park/River Forest, Gold Coast, and in Lincoln Park.
Timothy has been studying music since the age of three. He has earned degrees in music performance from the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore and the Chicago College for the Performing Arts. He has played with many orchestras including the Chicago Civic Orchestra and the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra.
