Miss. Tanya Karamanos
Violin, Viola Teacher
Miss Tanya Karamanos holds a masters of music in violin performance from the University of Akron, Ohio, a graduate degree in viola performance Université de Sherbrooke, Québec and a Masters in musicology from York University, Toronto where she specialized on Sofia Gubaidulina’s violin concerti.
Miss Karamanos performed her solo debut at Carnegie Hall in 2016 and performs regularly in Canada, the USA and Europe. A published writer, she also has an extensive background in musicology and ethnomusicology. In 2019 she lectured about the violin works of the Romanian composer Ciprian Porumbescu at the International Musicological Society Conference at the National University of Music in Bucharest, Romania.
Miss Karamanos is an active performer and music educator in the greater Montreal region, the US and Europe. She performs locally with classical, variety and eastern European ensembles. She teaches classical violin and viola in various music college programs and pre-college music programs along with world music through a variety of specialized programs.
Miss Karamanos teaches both in English and in French.
She is passionate about teaching and sharing her love for the violin and viola with students of all ages and helping them achieve their musical goals one note at a time!
Miss Karamanos teaches in person lessons in Montreal, Ottawa and everywhere in between.
She also teaches online at the online music school Studio Virtuoso.
