Sam Rudy
Violin, Viola Teacher
Sam Rudy has been a staple in the Midwest classical music scene for over a decade as a performer and teacher in pursuit of an ever deeper understanding of the social, intellectual, and emotional aspects of the music he encounters. Currently a member of the Quad City Symphony Orchestra, he has held posts with Orchestra Iowa, Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony, and other regional orchestras, in addition to local collaborations with Macalester, the Oratorio Society, 113 Composers’ Collective, the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus, and Lux String Quartet, with whom he championed music education in schools from the Twin Cities to Cedar Rapids and Oskaloosa. Sam is a faculty member of The Saint Paul Conservatory, K&S Conservatory, and Sarah Jane’s Music School, where he shares his delight in the intricacies of the music of every student. He holds degrees in performance and music theory from the University of Minnesota.
