Cellist Ryan Hoffman recently moved to Edmonton from the United States and is now looking for students. He teaches Suzuki cello lessons and group classes at Society for Talent Education (https://ste-suzukistrings.org/).

Ryan has degrees including a Doctor of Musical Arts in performance and pedagogy from James Madison University, a Master of Music in Performance from Penn State University and a B.A. in Music from Susquehanna University. He began teaching cello during his undergraduate degree, as part of Susquehanna University’s preparatory program. He continued to teach cello as part of his graduate assistantships at both Penn State and JMU, and also began teaching private lessons while at Penn State. Before moving to Edmonton, Ryan lived in Virginia and taught cello through the Eastern Mennonite University Preparatory Program, Bridgewater College and Shenandoah Valley Academy. Besides teaching, Ryan is a freelance musician, performing in both orchestral and chamber settings. Prior to moving, he was a regular or substitute cellist in several orchestras, including Waynesboro Symphony, Fairfax Symphony, Huntington Symphony, and Altoona Symphony, and played chamber music with a variety of groups including the Harrisonburg String Duo, Melodious Strings, and Two Rivers Chamber Music. Since moving to Edmonton, Ryan has been involved with Alberta String Association, Concordia Symphony Orchestra, and Opus @ 12 chamber music society. In April 2022, Ryan was a featured soloist with Concordia Symphony, performing Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme.
