Renita Luehrman
Violin, Viola Teacher
Renita began playing the violin at the age of four and little did she know that would be the beginning of a long and beautiful journey. After receiving a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri- St. Louis, where she studied with members of the Arianna String Quartet, she went on to study Suzuki Pedagogy with Vera McCoy-Sulentic while obtaining a Master’s degree from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
Teaching in under-resourced areas has been a passion of Renita’s since seeing the need while working on her Bachelor’s degree. After graduating from SIUE In 2017, she founded the non-profit Suzuki Harmony STL. Suzuki Harmony provides private and group music lessons for students at reduced rates so that every child is able to access high quality music instruction, no matter their ability to pay.
While not teaching and running Suzuki Harmony, Renita enjoys drinking coffee, reading, hiking, and spending time with her husband and two sons.
