Ms. Rebekah Lau
Piano Teacher
Rebekah Lau (Piano) returned to Hong Kong from the United States after she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Piano Performance on scholarship at Brigham Young University in 2009 and 2011. In addition to pedagogical studies with Dr. Scott McCarrey, Rebekah completed her Suzuki training with an apprenticeship under Cleo Brimhall, Fay Adams and Caroline Fraser. Rebekah’s primary instructors have been Scott Holden, Richard Anderson, Irene Peery Fox and Paul Pollei.
Performance highlights include winning first prize at the Hong Kong School’s Music Fesitval Piano Competition. In 2012-2013, her perfomance appears in Baptist University, PolyTech University, Parsons Music Hall, and the World Suzuki Conference in Matsumoto, Japan. In 2012-2013 alone, she has accompanied over 50 Suzuki Violin and Cello rehearsal and graduation recitals. In 2010, Rebekah performed “bowed piano” with a renowned Brigham Young University faculty Dr. Scott Holden in 2009. She has also attended the International Music Academy in Pilsen (IMAP), Czech Republic in the summer of 2010, where she studied with international renowned artists Arthur Greene, Steve Linderman, and Ivan Klansky. In 2011, Rebekah participated in the Brigham Young University Philharmonic Piano Concerto Competition and the MTNA Piano Competition.
Rebekah is a National Certified Music Teacher (NCTM), and has taught at Brigham Young University as a piano instructor in group and private lessons. She was the piano judge for the Arts and Music City Academy Piano Competition and the Encore Musicianship Technique Examination in 2009, and was highly favored by the Board of Trustees.
Her teaching philosophy shares that of Dr. Suzuki, : “Every Child Can”.
