Rebeca Baquerizo Taheri

A native of Miami, Florida, Rebeca Baquerizo graduated from Boston University with a master’s degree in Violin Performance. She has performed as part of the Alma String Quartet, Barron String Quartet, and was a winner of the Orfeo International Solo Competition in Vipiteno, Italy. Having eight years of teaching experience, Rebeca has taught with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra and St. Thomas More School in Sanford, FL. She is passionate about sharing music with others and worked for BU’s Outreach Program, expanding its concerts and partnerships. Rebeca moved to Kansas City this past year and is teaching with Harmony Project KC in a pilot music program in inner city schools to increase student engagement, attendance and academics. This past year she has also taught violin classes at St. Mary’s Academy in St. Mary’s Kansas, helping to launch the school’s first ever string program. Under her lead, the school’s violin ensemble won the highest score at Cair Paravel Music Festival in March 2020.
