Hailed as “distinguished” by the Chicago Tribune, and “a combination of steel and velvet” by the Chicago Sun Times, Patrick O’Malley has performed across the US and Europe. He collaborates with many ensembles, such as Lyric Opera of Chicago, Music of the Baroque, the Bach & Beethoven Experience, and Haymarket Opera Company. With Lisette Kielson he has recorded and produced a double-disc CD, Telemann: Canons and Duos. He is a founding member of Chicago Recorder Quartet.

Patrick O’Malley is on the faculty of the Music Institute of Chicago, where he is also Campus Director for the Evanston Campus. He formerly taught at the Suzuki Music School of Lincoln Park. He teaches remote students via video conference and at early music workshops across the country. Patrick earned a Master of Music degree in recorder from Indiana University, studying with Eva Legêne. With a Netherlands Fulbright Fellowship, he studied recorder with Han Tol at the Rotterdam Conservatory.

Patrick has served as board member of the American Recorder Teachers Association. His article, “Applying Rhetoric and Preluding to Recorder Education,” was published in The Recorder Education Journal. He has taught at Suzuki institutes in Iowa and California, and master classes at the SAA Conference in Minneapolis.
