Lisa Clarke
Violin Teacher
Lisa Clarke grew up in Imlay City, Michigan, where she began studying both violin and piano at the age of four. As she grew older, she became actively involved with the Flint Institutes of Music. She played in the Flint Youth Symphony, the Dort Honors String Quartet, and was the two-time winner of the Dort String Scholarship.
Lisa received a degree in string pedagogy from Maranatha Baptist University in 2009 under the tutelage of Betsy Pabon. She was introduced to the Suzuki philosophy and methodology during this time. After graduation, Lisa moved to Schaumburg, Illinois, where she was the head of the string department at Schaumburg Christian School for two years.
Lisa has taken her Suzuki training courses with Wendy Azrak and Mark Mutter. She currently teaches 1st-5th grade students in the Suzuki Strings Orchestra Program at Oxford Community Schools. She is on the teaching staff at Suzuki Music Academy of Michigan as well as Orion Music Studio. She is also the first violin in the Ambience String Quartet.
In addition to teaching, she is an avid reader and loves to go camping and explore the outdoors with her husband and two boys.
