Ms. Letícia de Oliveira
Cello Teacher
Brazilian cellist and teacher Letícia de Oliveira began her cello studies at the age of 16. Right from the start, she fell in love with the cello and the transformative power of music.
Her Suzuki Teaching Training Courses include Every Child Can with Dr. Shinobu Saito and Suzuki Philosophy with Dr. Renata Pereira. She also took Suzuki Cello Unit 1 with Andrea Spinzo, Suzuki Cello Unit 2 and 3 with Tanya Carey.
In 2006, she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Cello Performance from “Universidade Federal de Santa Maria”, studying with Dr. Ângela Maria Ferrari. After that, Letícia continued her cello studies under professors Milene Jorge Aliverti, Alexandre Diel, Adriane Savytzky, and most recently Diego Rafael da Silva Paixão.
Mrs Oliveira was a member of the “Orquestra Filarmônica da PUCRS” and performed as a guest cellist with the “Orquestra de Câmara Theatro São Pedro” and “Orquestra Sinfônica da UCS”, she was also part of the group “Convivius Musicum” from Porto Alegre, an ensemble dedicated to performing Brazilian music from the 20th century.
As a teacher, Letícia worked at “Escola de Música Tio Zequinha” from 2002 to 2011, where she got to know the Suzuki Method and fell in love with its philosophy. There she taught cello Suzuki private lessons and group classes, early childhood music, music theory and aural skills. She also worked as an instructor for the “Projeto Tim Música nas Escolas”, teaching students from the public school system. In this program she presented musical workshops and directed string orchestras.
After 10 years away from the music market, in 2021 Mrs. Oliveira returned to her cello studies and resumed her musical activities teaching cello to her daughter and a group of children in Porto Alegre/Brazil.
Currently, Letícia pursuing a Master’s Degree in Music Performance, with emphasis on the artistic production of the 20th and 21st centuries at “UFRN”, under guidance of Professor Dr. Fábio Presgrave and a Music Certificate at University of Houston under the guidance of Professor Dr. Eunghee Cho.
