As a member of the Music Teacher’s Association of California, South Bay Branch her students have the opportunity to participate in any MTA programs including the annual Certificate of Merit, which includes scales, etudes, performance pieces, sight-reading and music theory. Beginning students, however, are taught by the Suzuki method, and are encouraged to learn at first by ear, with the loving help of a parent. Group classes are also part of the learning process, supplemental to the weekly private lessons, taught in her Redondo Beach home which borders Torrance and Palos Verdes Estates.
Mrs. Driskill is an enthusiastic teacher who believes in the importance of creating a strong foundation for future success. The individuality of each child is respected, yet all are challenged to do more than they think they can do! Parent education is also part of the program in order to aid in the at-home practicing and understand the importance of the parent’s role at various stages of a child’s learning.
