Violin, Suzuki in the Schools, Suzuki Early Childhood Education Teacher
Laura Wright has degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music: BM and MM in violin performance and Suzuki pedagogy (covering books 1- 10) with Michele George, June 1989. She also studied at CIM with Eugene Gratovich, Paul Statsky and James Stern. Additional pedagogic training was done with Teri Einfeldt, Rhonda Cole, John Kendall, Doris Preucil, James Maurer, Lynn McCall and others. Ms Wright began her violin studies as a child with Janet Bogart (Kalamazoo MI) and at the Interlochen School of the Arts. She also attended Lawrence University, the Tanglewood Summer Music Program, Quinnipiac University, and studied post graduate for many years with Joyce Robbins (NYC).
Previous teaching experience: Lawrence University, Cleveland Institute of Music, Kent State University, Suzuki Center and Institutes of the Lehigh Valley, and summer workshops, the Melbourne Suzuki Institute, past Suzuki dept. coordinator at the Neighborhood Music School, director of the Suzuki violin program at the Wintergreen Arts Magnet School (Hamden CT), and adjudicator/clinician for the Heritage Music Festival.
She has played with many orchestras, including Lehigh Valley Chamber Orchestra, Harrisburg Symphony, Allentown Symphony, Bedford Springs Festival Orchestra, Bridgeport Symphony, Eastern CT Symphony, Wallingford Symphony, Norwalk Symphony and Ridgefield S.O, as well the Oakdale and Schubert Theaters. She is also involved in playing for community (music therapy program at Griffin Hospital) along with her students active performances (nursing homes, libraries, schools and churches….).
Laura Wright continues to be a freelance performer in the CT area. Ms Wright’s private violin studios are located in New Haven and North Haven and she is instructor of violin and director of the string ensemble at the Westover School (Middlebury, CT).
