Mrs. Larissa Thomas
Cello Teacher
Larissa Thomas began playing the cello at age ten after hearing a recording of the instrument and loving its sound. A born and raised Alaskan, she received her Bachelor Degree in Music Performance from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. While living in Alaska, she taught cello in her private studio from 2007-2011, in addition to teaching beginning and advanced Suzuki group lessons with the Fairbanks Suzuki School of Talent Education. Ms. Thomas is registered through the Suzuki Association of the Americas in cello books one through six.
Since moving to Houston in the fall of 2011, Ms. Thomas has established a teaching studio of private students from around the Houston area. Her students perform in various ensembles, including the Houston Youth Symphony and the Houston Youth String Orchestra, and have been accepted into the elementary All-City honor orchestra, middle school Region honor orchestra, and high school All-State orchestra.
Ms. Thomas loves teaching the cello to all ages and seeing the lifelong joy that playing music brings to others!
