Dr. Keum Hwa Cha

Keum Hwa Cha is a violinist, violist, and Suzuki-trained educator. Cha has given numerous concerts as a soloist, chamber musician, and concertmaster in the United States and South Korea. Her students have won numerous prizes and honors at a variety of solo competitions and have received academic and music scholarships. Cha’s pre-collegiate students have served as principal players in many youth orchestras and have been selected to play with All-State Honor Orchestras, SCSBOA High School Honor Orchestra, and MTAC’s Convention Honor Ensemble. Her studio offers the MTAC Certificate of Merit and the ASTA Certificate Advancement programs for students of all levels (non-competitive examinations). Additionally, her students have participated in various music festivals in California.

Cha is on the faculty of the Colburn Community School of Performing Arts, teaching violin, viola, and chamber music.

*Teaching Philosophy
I have been teaching young children and teenagers for over 20 years. My students have grown in confidence and experienced the joy of making music. I use both traditional and Suzuki methods and move in a direction that best fits individual students. Creating a nurturing environment is the key to my pedagogy.
