Mrs. Katie Mattix

Katie Mattix is a Suzuki violin, viola and piano teacher and has been teaching exceptional students since 1999. She also loves teaching Music Together and Rhythm Kids classes for young children. Katie owns, directs and teaches at Mattix Music Studio, located in Western Springs, IL.

She specializes in early childhood musical development and healthy performance technique. She accepts students ages two to adult.

Katie is also a professional performer and accompanist in the Chicago area. She has a master’s degree in violin pedagogy from NIU, where she studied with Mathias Tacke of the Vermeer Quartet and Suzuki teacher trainer Ann Montzka-Smelser. Her bachelor’s degree is in violin performance with a piano minor from Moody Bible Institute, where she studied with David Taylor, assistant concertmaster of the CSO.
