Viola, Violin Teacher
Though she now holds three degrees in Viola Performance, Katherine began her studies at age five with Suzuki violin lessons. Excelling quickly on the violin, by age eight Katherine joined the local youth symphony in the Phoenix, Arizona area, and at age 10, she added contest fiddlingto her studies and won her first contest as the Arizona State Junior-Junior fiddle champion. She has won many titles since, including placing in the top 10 at the national level. As a high school freshman in high school,she added viola studies and then pursued those studies in college and graduate school.
Katherine has come to the Milwaukee area from Phoenix, AZ by way of Nashville, TN and Bowling Green, KY. She attended graduate school at UW-Milwaukee, completing two Masters of Music Degrees in Performance and Belmont University in Nashville, completing her Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance. Between her bachelors degree and her masters degree, Katherine took two years to focus on teaching to hone her skills as a teacher through a teaching internship. She has grown two successful studios, one in Bowling Green and now in Milwaukee. Alum of Katherine4Music Studios have achieved accolades such as placement in the National Honors Series Orchestra, won principal positions, one of which had a featured solo at Carnegie Hall, performed at Royal Festival Hall in London, and received the prestigious President’s Scholarship to study Viola Performance at Jacob’s School of Music at Indiana University.
Katherine is well versed in classical music, the oldtime fiddle style, the Texas Style fiddle, pop music, as well as world music and loves to teach a mixture off all of these styles to keep students engaged in lessons.
