Ms. Kat Fritz
Violin, Viola Teacher
I began to play the viola at the age of 11 when I was offered one from my elementary school collection. It was love a first sight and I have enjoyed three decades of playing and teaching since then. I love the process of working so closely with each of my students and their families. We celebrate each small gain. I know through each accomplishment, they are developing a strong technical foundation and deep musical sense. And most importantly, a beautiful heart through the study of music.
As well as a teacher I have worked as director and area coordinator with the New Orleans Suzuki Forum, New Orleans Youth Orchestra, Island Strings, Whidbey Island Waldorf School, Cedar School, South Whidbey School District, Music Together of Whidbey Island, as well as a clinician at the Suzuki Association of Washington State. I have also had the great pleasure to be the music director of the Whidbey Island Community Orchestra and the Whidbey Island Chamber Players. I have performed in a variety of orchestras, chamber groups, tango bands, and fiddle bands over the last 25 years. In August 2011, I moved to Louisville, Colorado and I am excited to meet the new community of players and students in the Boulder area.
