Ms. Karin L. Code
Viola, Violin Teacher
Karin Loberg Code has been teaching strings for over twenty years. Her Suzuki training was completed primarily through the European Suzuki Association in Denmark and Norway. She has a successful private studio in Portage, Michigan with 25 students who also perform as an ensemble called the Code Studio Strings.
Karin is also on the faculties at Kalamazoo and Hillsdale Colleges teaching violin, viola and string methods. She directs three levels of orchestra at West Michigan Homeschool Fine Arts in Kalamazoo. In addition to teaching, Karin plays viola with several orchestras in the Western Michigan area including Battle Creek Symphony, Kalamazoo Symphony and West Michigan Symphony.
Karin and her string-playing husband David form the Scandinavian fiddle duo Norse Code. This traditional folk ensemble performs music of Norway and Sweden on nyckelharpa, violin and the Norwegian Hardanger fiddle. Their four string-playing, Suzuki-trained children sometimes join in the family fun!
