Jill Van Gee
Viola Teacher
Jill Van Gee, violist, has enjoyed settling in the South Bay after having lived in Texas, New York, and Québec. A registered Suzuki Teacher in viola and violin, Ms. Van Gee is accepting viola students age 6 and older.
Ms. Van Gee is a member of the Oakland Symphony and a former member of the Austin, San Antonio, and Santa Cruz Symphonies. She was Principal Violist with the Juilliard Orchestra for a summer residency in Spoleto, Italy, and has played with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician, she has toured extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and North America, and while playing with the avant-garde Canadian ballet company La La La Human Steps, she recorded original music by David Lang and Gavin Bryars. A winner of the Canadian Music Competition, she was privileged to perform at the 2006 International Viola Congress. Ms. Van Gee holds a Bachelor of Music from The Juilliard School and a Master of Music from the Université de Montréal.
In addition to her love of music, Ms. Van Gee enjoys baking, bouldering, and reading. She and her husband are the companions of two adopted kitties.
