Mrs. Jennifer V. Yarbrough
Violin, Suzuki Early Childhood Education Teacher
As a nine-year-old, Jennifer’s father encouraged her to attend a concert featuring “a very special violinist” (then 16-year-old Hilary Hahn). Afterwards, she knew exactly what she wanted to be when she grew up. Following her passion ever since, she now enjoys a career as a professional violinist and teacher.
Jennifer is a registered Suzuki violin and Suzuki Early Childhood Education teacher. She is also a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, the Suzuki Association of Washington State, the Kitsap Music Teachers Association, and the Music Teachers National Association. In addition to her Suzuki training, Jennifer studied string pedagogy with Kurt Sassmannshaus and completed The Sassmannshaus Tradition teacher training seminar for violin.
A member of the Yakima Symphony Orchestra, Jennifer also performs regularly with Symphony Tacoma and the Tacoma City Ballet Orchestra. Previous orchestral experience includes the Vashon Opera, Federal Way Symphony, Olympia Symphony Orchestra, Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra (NC), Tar River Philharmonic Orchestra, Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, Symphony of the Mountains, Richmond Symphony Orchestra (IN), and the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra.
As a freelancer, Jennifer has enjoyed collaborating with Michael Bublé, Il Divo, Jackie Evancho, Ricky Skaggs and the Kentucky Thunder, and The Ten Tenors.
Jennifer has been featured as a soloist with the Poulsbo Community Orchestra in addition to touring and performing chamber music throughout the US and abroad, most notably at the Sutu Palace and George Enescu Hall in Bucharest, Romania.
Music festival experience includes the Castleton Festival, Round Top Festival Institute, Texas Music Festival, Brevard Music Center, and the Interlochen Arts Camp.
Jennifer received Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in violin performance, graduating summa cum laude, from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. She studied primarily with Dr. Piotr Milewski and Gabriel Pegis.
Outside of music, Jennifer enjoys running, cooking, reading, and spending time with her husband and two dogs.
