Ms. Jennifer Diedrich

Jennifer Diedrich began a Suzuki Violin Studio in November, 2002 in St. Petersburg, Florida. The program has enjoyed great support from parents, educators, students, fellow Suzuki colleagues, the City of St. Petersburg and the St Pete/Clearwater Visitor’s Bureau. Jennifer studied violin in Illinois under Arthur Montzka and had the privilege of working on chamber music with the Vemeer Quartet at Northern Illinois University in the 1980s. She has since trained with Catherine McGlasson, Nancy Lokken Carrie Reuning, Ann Montzka and other amazing Suzuki pedagogues.

From 2011 to 2019, Jennifer was the director of the Florida Music Institute, an international collaboration of parents, faculty and students. It is the only Suzuki Association registered institute in Florida and one of only 45 in the United States. The institute is now offered in Orlando, Florida under the direction of Rolando Frietag. Currently, Jennifer works as a Family Support Specialist for Healthy Families Florida, a child abuse prevention program. Jennifer also maintains a small number of private students. Early childhood education, music, art and design truly inspire Jennifer. She has directed the Young Artist Competition for the Tampa Bay Symphony while also being on the board. She also served on the Marly Music committee at the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) in St. Petersburg, FL.

Jennifer’s students have gone on to earn degrees and work in the fields of Music Education, Music Performance, Technology, Medicine, Business, and Marketing. The study of music develops the brain in ways that no other discipline can. Music develops social, emotional, cognitive, intellectual and physical abilities. The impact and benefits of learning an instrument are too many to quantify.
