Originally from western Kentucky, J. Andrew Miller holds a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance from Murray State University, a Master of Music degree in violin performance and Post-Graduate Performance Certificate from DePaul University, in addition to certification in the Sassmanshaus Tradition and Suzuki Methods (Books 1-6).  His influential teachers and mentors include Vincent Frittelli, Karen Clarke, Olga Dubossarskaya Kaler and Betty Haag-Kuhnke.

Mr. Miller’s teaching combines an expertise in early childhood Suzuki education with a conservatory level technical foundation. His students range from 2 1/2 years to college bound seniors. As a Suzuki parent of a young violinist and cellist, he strives to teach students emotional intelligence, objectivity in the practice room and how to make the violin an integral part of a child’s life.

Miller has served as director and faculty for strings programs across Kentucky, Tennessee, and Illinois including the Murray State String Project, JAM Violin Studio, Smiling Strings and the Chicago High School for the Arts. He has served as a conductor and clinician for the Quad State String Festival held at Murray State University, where he has premiered several of his own new pedagogical works for string orchestra. He currently serves as co-director and violin faculty at the South Side Suzuki Cooperative.
