Mrs. Heather Murphy
Cello, Violin, Viola Teacher
Heather Murphy received a bachelor degree in Music Performance and Music Education from New Mexico State University where she graduated With Honors and as Valedictorian of her class in 2002. During her time there, she performed in the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra, the Doña Ana Lyric Opera, and the University Orchestra. She also assisted teaching in classes in the local schools and taught privately.
Heather graduated with a master degree in Music Education from the University of Colorado in 2005. During her time there, she participated in the Takacs Chamber Music Program, the University Symphony Orchestra, completed a graduate recital on the cello, and also began her education within the Suzuki Method.
In 2009, she completed her long-term training within the Suzuki Method with Carol Tarr at the University of Denver. From 2009—2011, Heather was a long-term sub for Carol Tarr’s cello studio, expanded her own cello studio, and was in charge of teaching group classes through the Denver Talent Education Suzuki group in Denver.
Heather Murphy is primarily a public school orchestra teacher within the Boulder Valley School District where she has been teaching since 2003. She is currently the director of orchestras at Centaurus High School and Meadowlark School. Heather still has a small private cello studio.
