Grazzia Rode-Sagastume

Grazzia Rode-Sagastume is a Honduran violinist, violist, and early childhood educator. She began
her musical journey at age 13 in her hometown: San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
Her passion for empowering others to have a healthy relationship with their instrument inspired her to pursue a Master in String Pedagogy at the University of New Mexico where she completed her long term training in violin books 1- 10 under Susan Kempter.

She is a warm, kind, and attentive teacher. Grazzia fosters a welcoming, non-judgemental, and
nurturing learning environment. She is dedicated to providing caregiver support, helping students
build confidence and a kind heart through music; and motivating other teachers to cultivate safe-
trusting-lifelong relationships within the Suzuki triangle.

An avid life-long learner, among her most recent taken course work: “Working with 3 to 6 year
olds” with Mark Mutter, “Suzuki Principles in Action” with Nancy Lokken, “Fostering Positive
Practice between Students & Caregivers” with Christine Goodner. Field and string pedagogies
that supplement her teaching philosophy encompass: research in neuroscience, childhood
development, parenting, Alexander technique; and the pedagogies of Mimi Zweig, Ivan Galamian,
Kató Havas, Dorothy Delay, and Paul Rolland.

Her teaching experience includes working with the Omaha Conservatory of Music, String
Sprouts, Omaha Suzuki Institute, Youth Musician’s Initiative (El Sistema), and UNM Suzuki Laboratory School. She joined the Suzuki faculty at the Aber Suzuki Center at the University of Wisconsin—Stevens Point in the Fall of 2023.

Grazzia also enjoys an international performing career. She has won orchestral positions and
played in orchestras in the United States, Italy, Canada, Guatemala, and Honduras. Recent
appearances include performing with Omaha Symphony, Sioux City Symphony, Broadway at
Omaha Performing Arts, Mannheim Steamroller, New Mexico Philharmonic, Santa Fe Symphony, and Spazio Opera.
