Gail N. Olmstead
Piano Teacher
Gail Olmstead started piano lessons when she was 7 years old, studying the Royal Conservatory of Music repertoire. In high school, her performance skills were further developed by playing piano in her high school jazz band. She received a Bachelor of Music (classical) from the University of Alberta and a Diploma of Music (jazz) from Grant MacEwan College. She then opened her home studio, first teaching the RCM repertoire. After completing Suzuki training, she moved her teaching style to the Suzuki method. Gail has completed her Books 1-7 teacher training. She has freelanced as a collaborative pianist and director in musical theatre, classical and jazz choirs, vocal and flute recitals and composed for vocal and dance groups in the city. In addition to music, Gail enjoys traveling, hiking in the mountains and—with limited success—conversing with her two cats.
