Mr. Francois Nezwazky

Teacher and performer FRANCOIS NEZWAZKY began piano lessons at age seven. He studied on scholarship with Lawrence LaGore at the Michigan Conservatory of Music, with Joseph Banowetz at Interlochen music camp, and with John Kollen and Eugene Bossart on full tuition scholarship at the University of Michigan. He attended master classes with the Beaux Arts Trio and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. In 2006, François began his study of the Suzuki method for piano with Sheila Keats at the School for Strings in Manhattan and did additional studies with Mary Craig Powell.

François has performed frequently in and around New York, including solo and chamber recitals at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Recital Hall and as soloist with the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony and Musica Bella chamber orchestra. In addition to performing, he has given lectures on historical tuning temperaments and on the acoustical interaction of piano hammers and strings for the Piano Technicians Guild.

François serves on the Board of the Leschetizky Association as chair of their Members Musicales Program. The Association published his article, “Should We Really Be Playing In Equal Temperament?”, in its annual News Bulletin.

François lives in Queens with his wife Vicki, a nutritionist and French translator/interpreter. Together they enjoy ballroom dancing in their spare time.

François is a faculty member of the Music Conservatory of Westchester in White Plains, NY, and also teaches piano privately in Queens, NYC. He is currently accepting new students in both locations.
