Fangyue He

Fangyue He, violin, was born in Shanghai, China, in 1987 and began studying the violin 
at age of four. She studied violin with Professor Jiyang Zhao andChenxing Huang in both 
primary and the middle school affiliated with the Shanghai Conservatory of Music from 
1996 to 2005. In 2001, she won the fourth prize in the Seventh National Violin 
Competition and was selected to participated in the Morningside Music Bridge in Calgary, Canada. The next year she attended the Perlman Music Program in Shanghai and performed with Shanghai Conservatory of Music Orchestra in the U.S.A. She was recruited into the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in the fall of 2005, studying with Professor Shisheng Zheng. She attended Bard College Conservatory in 2006 and graduated in 2012 studied with Ms. Ida Kavafian and Laurie Smukler. In April 2009, She played as soloist with the American symphony orchestra in the Richard B. Fisher Center for performing arts. She was a fellow of the Tanglewood Music Center from 2007 to 2009 seasons. She attended New York String Seminar in 2009. She spent a semester study abroad program in Siena for the language and the violin with Mr. Pavel Vernikov in La Scuola Musica di Fiesole in Florence, Italy. She was a fellow at Kneisel Hall chamber music festival summer 2010 and 2011. In May 2011, she played duo violin concerto by George Tsontakis’s in the Harvard’s Sanders Theatre. She attended the graduate program in Manhattan School of Music in 2012 to continue her study with Ms. Laurie Smukler. In 2015, she was selected to perform in the Queen Elizabeth competition in Brussels, Belgum. In the fall of 2015, she joined the Oregon Symphony Orchestra in Portland, OR as a sectional violinist. During the pandemic lockdown, she has giving series concerts with Dr. Ron Potts in the Hillsdale neighborhood in Portland OR. Currently, she is a sectional second violinist in the Boise Philharmonic since fall 2022, and plays with Spokane Symphony, East Oregon symphony.
