Violinist Erin Dorfer teaches an active violin studio in the South Surrey and White Rock area. She recently founded the children’s string orchestra “Peace Arch Strings” in White Rock and is the artistic director. A firm believer that any child can succeed, Erin is active in the Suzuki community. During the summer, Erin is on faculty at the Music, Meadows and Mountains retreat, as well as the Suzuki Valhalla Institute.

A Canadian with a strong Dutch heritage, Erin brings energy and enthusiasm to the concert stage. Erin is a member of the Vancouver Island Symphony and has served as Assistant Concertmaster and Principal 2nd Violin.

Erin earned her Master’s degree from University of British Columbia where she studied with Jasper Wood and Marc Destrubé. Her undergraduate studies were at the University of Victoria and the University of Nevada. Erin has also worked extensively with Nancy DiNovo and has performed in master-classes for Andrew Manze, Sergiu Luca, Elizabeth Wallfisch, Wilbert Hazelzet, Jaap ter Linden and Jonathan Crowe.

Erin recently completed an Artist Certificate in Baroque violin with Kati Debretzeni at the Royal Conservatory, The Hague, the Netherlands.

Erin offers Violin Preparatory classes at the South Surrey Arts and Recreation & White Rock community centres with three start dates through the year.
