Emily Williams is a passionate performing artist and dedicated educator who has found her artistic home in the vibrant city of Los Angeles. Originally from Boston, Emily has carved a diverse career in both performing and teaching, leaving her mark on stages across North America, South America and Europe.
As a performer, Emily appears as a substitute violist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and has spent two seasons as a fellowship violist with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. An avid chamber musician, her love for new music has led her to collaborate with contemporary composers, performing with groups like Wild Up, Jacaranda Music, Delirium Musicum and the Hear Now Festival. Emily has shared stages with artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Stevie Wonder, Billie Eilish, Steve Lacy and Dierks Bentley at iconic venues like the Hollywood Bowl, Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Greek Theatre. She has also been invited to perform at various renowned music festivals, including the Breckenridge Music Festival, Music in the Mountains, Aspen Music Festival, Sarasota Music Program, Heifetz International Music Institute and Music Academy of the West. Beyond her live performances, Emily’s captivating sound has graced studio recordings for film and TV, and has contributed to the music of artists including Imagine Dragons, Meghan Trainor, CeeLo Green, Charlie Puth and The Rare Occasions.
When she’s not on stage, Emily is a highly sought-after teacher and mentor. For nearly two decades, she has maintained a thriving viola, violin and piano studio, guiding students of all levels, many of whom have successfully been accepted into top conservatories and music programs. She has also held teaching positions at renowned institutions like the Indiana University String Academy and the University of North Texas. Her passion for fostering young talent has extended to coaching youth orchestras and chamber ensembles across the United States, leaving a lasting impact on aspiring musicians.
Emily’s musical journey began at the New England Conservatory and Phillips Academy Andover. She earned degrees with honors from Indiana University, University of North Texas and Southern Methodist University, all while actively performing with chamber ensembles and orchestras, including the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Opera, New World Symphony and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Throughout her career, Emily’s dedication and artistry have garnered numerous awards, including the IU Music Faculty Award and T. Taylor Trust Scholarship, which generously helped her acquire her cherished 1935 Mario Antonio Frosali viola.
Emily’s passion is for instilling a love of the arts, and helping students of any level achieve their musical goals through individual, personalized instruction. She teaches private viola, violin and piano lessons in the La Crescenta-Montrose neighborhood of Glendale, CA, and travels to students’ houses in some other locations as well.
