Mrs. Emily Connolly
Violin Teacher
Emily Connolly graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Violin Performance, studying with the Gabriel Bolkosky, Andrew Jennings, and Yehonatan Berick. Her background as a Suzuki Child starts back from the age of 3, when she started at the Western Springs School of Talent Education, under the direction of Edward Kreitman. She performed with the Allegro Performance Ensemble and the Chicago Consort, where she traveled on tour and for benefit concerts to Germany, Prauge, Spain, Puerto Rico, New Orleans, Minnesota’s Mall of America, and more. In high school, she also played in the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra as assistant concertmaster, where they traveled to Argentina, Uruguay, and Venezuela. She spent her summers traveling anywhere from Switzerland to Ithaca, New York for music festivals and summer violin programs. She studied privately with Thomas Wermuth starting at age 13 at the WSSTE. During the summer, she has spent time studying with David Updegraff, Allegra Wermuth, Kristoffer Dolatko, Andrew Dawes, Franck Soucek, and Stephen Shipps. During her time at the University of Michigan, she played as the concertmaster and assistant concertmaster for the University Philharmonic Orchestra, and also accumulated a studio of students, and was able to look at both her love for performing and her love for teaching clearly, and decide that her true love was in the Suzuki Method. One month after graduating from the University of Michigan in 2014, she started Suzuki Teacher Training with Edward Kreitman, and followed him around the country for teacher trainings books 1 through 5. She currently resides in Cleveland, Ohio studying at the Cleveland Institute of Music (Masters in Violin Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy), teaching both at CIM and Baldwin Wallace College to share her love and passion for the Suzuki Method and the violin.
