Elizabeth Brown
Violin, Viola Teacher
Elizabeth Brown currently maintains a private violin/viola studio in the Chicago area as well as teaches music on the faculty of Saint Augustine College in Chicago. She has previously served on the violin faculties of the Suzuki-Orff School for Young Musicians, the Center School of Music, the McHenry County Music School, the Peoples Music School, and Wunder Studios, among others.
Ms. Brown is an accomplished soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral performer. She earned her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in Violin Performance from DePaul University School of Music and is the recipient of many awards, prizes, and scholarships. Her principal teachers have been Roland and Almita Vamos, Gerardo Ribeiro, Kurt Sassmannshaus, and Mark Zinger, among others.
Elizabeth received her Level One Endorsement in Paul Rolland String Pedagogy from the Paul Rolland String Pedagogy Workshop at the School of Music at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
She has written articles on teaching music, the importance of music in early childhood, and strategies for parents of young musicians for the Illinois Association for Gifted Children Journal.
Elizabeth Brown was a Suzuki violin student as a child and is a Suzuki parent now to her daughter who plays piano!
