Deidre Fominaya Bacco retired in 2016 from the Nashville Symphony after 34 years. Since her retirement, Deidre freelances in the middle TN area, including the Nashville Opera, the Gateway Chamber Orchestra. She holds a performance degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and studied with Eloy Fominaya (her father), Myron Kartman, Paul Makara, and Camilla Wicks. Prior to moving to Nashville, she played with the the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (AL), Birmingham String Quartet, the San Jose Symphony (CA), the Santa Rosa Symphony (CA), the Monterey Symphony (CA), the Hidden Valley Opera Company, (Carmel, CA), the Atlanta Opera, and the Orquesta Sinfonica del Estado de Mexico (Toluca, Mexico). Deidre began her Suzuki training in 1988 as a parent of her then 5 yr. old daughter and began her Suzuki teacher training in 1990 in Stevens Point, WI. She has a private studio in West Nashville, as well as on the faculty at the St. Cecilia Academy Music Conservatory, the W.O. Smith Community School, and will begin a new string program at St. Michael Academy in Nolensville, TN in the Fall of 2024. She has taught at several workshops and festivals in the area and around the US. Deidre Bacco has been president of the Middle TN Suzuki Association (MTSA) for the past 15 years and has recently stepped off the Board. She was the MTSA Fall Workshop Committee co-chair for many years and has organized several Suzuki Teacher-Training Development courses for teachers, locally & nationally.
