Ms. Corina A. Brito
Violin Teacher
Corina Brito has a B.A. in violin performance from St. Marcelina College in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and an M.A. in arts administration from the London City University in the UK. She has been teaching violin and general music for over twenty-five years. She has also been a children’s choral director in the Maryland and Virginia public school system.
Ms. Brito has taken training from well-known Suzuki teacher-trainers Martha Shackford, Ronda Cole, John Kendall, Carrie Reuning-Hummel, Kimberly Meier-Sims, Edward Kreitman and Edmund Sprunger among others. She is certified up to book 5 and has loved to take extra curricular SAA courses like Suzuki Principles in Action, Child Development for the Suzuki Teacher, Teaching with an Open Heart and Expecting Excellence at All Levels in the Suzuki Violin Student.
Ms. Corina, as her young students call her, implements the Suzuki pedagogy in highly creative ways, often using games, singing and movement. She provides an encouraging environment in which students can develop their musical potential. Corina accepts beginning students as young as four years old, previously trained Suzuki students, and adults. One of the hallmarks of Ms. Brito’s violin studio is her request for parental involvement to being life-long learners along with her in this musical journey.
Her students have been accepted to All-State Orchestras as well as Emory Junior Chamber Orchestra, MYSO, GYSO and the FYO.
Corina Brito is the founder and director of the Forsyth Youth Orchestra, the first community orchestra in Forsyth County where she lives. She continues to perform, especially chamber music with various groups in the Atlanta area, and continues to explore many different musical styles, specially the ones from her cultural heritage of Brazil.
Ms. Brito is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, the Suzuki Association of Georgia, where she has been a vice-president of the board, the American String Teachers Association, the National Association for Music Education and the Georgia Music Educators Association.
