Cecelia Sha
Cello Teacher
Cecelia Sha is a musician and educator currently based in Detroit. She earned her Bachelors of Music and two Masters of Music degrees at the University of Michigan, where she studied with Anthony Elliott and Richard Aaron. Cecelia has also studied and performed at summer festivals such as Blackburn Music Academy where she served as principal cellist, Bowdoin International Music Festival, and Orford Music Academy. She has also recently performed with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra, Ann Arbor Symphony, and Oakland Symphony.
As a chamber musician, Cecelia regularly performs on FeverUp Detroit’s Candlelight Classical series as a member of the Kalkaska String Quartet. She also enjoys sharing chamber music with the community and has participated in major performance projects such as the Prison Creative Arts Project, in which she performed string quartets in prisons across Michigan. As an educator, Cecelia has led elementary and middle school string instrument programs as part of the Michigan Artist Citizen Program and volunteered at the El Sistema-modeled Paterson Music Project in New Jersey. She is certified as a Suzuki method teacher and currently maintains a thriving private studio.
