Caleb Lambert

Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, Dr. Caleb Lambert has been an active performer and teacher throughout the Midwest for the last twelve years. Currently, Caleb holds the position of Lecturer of Music at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa and is the second trombonist for Orchestra Iowa in Cedar Rapids, IA. Past teaching engagements have included positions at Cornell College and Culver Stockton College.
Caleb received his B.M. and M.M. in trombone performance and orchestral literature from the Chicago College of Performing Arts where he studied with Jay Friedman and Peter Ellefson. After graduation from CCPA, Caleb joined the Axiom Brass Quintet and spent two years touring the United States presenting master classes and recitals throughout the country as well as the Dominican Republic. During his tenure with Axiom the group was awarded the Grand Prize at the 2012 International Brass Chamber music competition held in Passau, Germany. Caleb returned to school in 2016 to earn his terminal degree and graduated with his Doctor of Musical Arts in 2020 from the University of Iowa.
Caleb maintains an active freelance career and is frequently seen performing with the symphonies of Dubuque, Quad Cities, Des Moines and Waterloo-Cedar Falls. He has been a guest bass trombonist with the Des Moines Metro Opera for their 2022 and 2023 seasons.
An accomplished valve player, Caleb has performed on bass trumpet and euphonium with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Civic Orchestra, Orchestra Iowa, and the Quad City Symphony. Caleb was awarded the Grand Prize at the Chicago Brass Festival Solo Competition in 2012 performing Schubert’s Arpeggione Sonata on euphonium, and was also a featured soloist on euphonium in 2022 with the Cedar Rapids Municipal Band.
In addition to his teaching position at Wartburg, Caleb maintains a private studio teaching trombone, euphonium, and tuba in Iowa City and Coralville. His students often place in the All State and SEIBA band conferences and have gone on to study music at colleges throughout the United States.
