Brittany Hensley

Brittany is a violinist in Tampa, Florida who enjoys performing and teaching. She has been playing violin since the age of six and holds a Bachelor of Music degree and Master of Music degree in Violin Performance from the University of South Florida. She has studied with Carolyn Stuart, Monica Germino and Mark Rush.

She co-founded the BrittZim Duo with Mary-Cathryn Zimmer (cello) in 2013 and frequently performs with the duo. In 2014, BrittZim played on set and setting’s album “A Vivid Memory”. Brittany also performs with the Denver based Americana-Folk band, Alright Alright and recorded on their 2018 album “Nearby” and 2020 album “Crucible”. In addition, she has performed on albums for Cole Scheifele and Spencer Lajoye.

In her spare time, Brittany works on string arrangements for her duo BrittZim, student string groups and other artists. In 2020, she wrote the string quartet arrangement for “Champagne” on Alright Alright’s album, “Crucible”.

Brittany is a member of the SAA (Suzuki Association of the Americas) and has SAA registered teacher training for Violin books 1 through 10 and Stage 1 of Suzuki Early Childhood Education. She earned a Certificate in Suzuki Pedagogy from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver under Kathleen Spring in 2016. She has also taken teacher training with Carrie Reuning-Hummel, Ann Montzka Smelser and Danette Schuh. Students can look forward to structured lessons that are also tailored to each student’s individual needs.

Brittany currently resides in Tampa, Florida with her husband, dog and two cats. She is also the Strings Director at St. Mary’s Episcopal Day School in South Tampa.
