A multi instrumentalist, vocalist, writer and arranger, she has been performing, recording and teaching Violin, Viola and Voice locally and across Canada.  She has played with several groups based in Edmonton including Scona Brae, High Point Bluegrass Band, Dennis Lakusta, and Crossing MacKenzie.  Her band, Celtara, has released 3 well received CD’s and has been inciting toe-tapping in audiences of western Canada (and Nova Scotia!) since 2005.

A child of musicians and educators, Bonnie studied violin in Calgary at Mount Royal College with Leon Zaitsev, Viola with John Thompson, and Voice with Blaine Chapmen, playing with the Mount Royal College Junior and Senior Orchestras, Calgary Youth Orchestra and University of Calgary Orchestra.

Bonnie studied Education at the University of Calgary and Anthropology at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Medical Lab Technology at NAIT and a Commercial and Instructor pilot rating at the Edmonton Flying School.

After receiving Teacher Training units from the SAA and completing the 3 year longterm teacher training program at the Edmonton Society for Talent Education, Bonnie taught with STE for 25 years, as a teacher and 2 years as co-music director.

Bonnie has taught and directed summer fiddle camps in Alberta, the NWT and the Yukon, and taught extensively in schools and fiddle camps for the Kole Crook Fiddle association.  With colleague Rod Olstad Bonnie co-founded and has been co-director of the Edmonton Fiddlers, Festival City Fiddlers and Gateway Fiddlers from 2001 to present.

Currently Bonnie is one of the founding music instructors with Edmonton Suzuki Strings, teaching violin and viola out of her home studio in the Inglewood neighbourhood in Edmonton.
