A Juilliard graduate, Anna was fitted for a performing career from a young age. She eventually found, however, that her true passion in music was teaching. Anna graduated from The Juilliard School with a Bachelor’s in Viola Performance where she studied with world-renowned Mrs. Heidi Castleman and Mr. Robert Vernon, former Principal Violist of the Cleveland Orchestra. While at Juilliard, Anna had the privilege of studying pedagogy with Dr. Virginia Allen.

Anna has been teaching violin and viola for ten years. She is passionate about teaching music to students of all ages and skill levels. She is a certified violin Suzuki instructor and also teaches in the traditional approach. She strives to make learning enjoyable through creative methods. She believes learning is unique to each individual as every person processes information differently.

As a performer, Anna sat as principal violist in The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra from 2007-2009 with performances in Severance Hall. In 2009, Anna took First Prize in her division of The Ohio Viola Society Competition. Anna and her siblings, the Playing Hoopes Tio, performed on NPR’s “From The Top.” The trio also appeared Live on the CBS Early Show with Harry Smith. They also performed at the Ohio Governor’s Mansion for the Governor and First Lady of Ohio. Anna has performed as principal co-chair with the Juilliard Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and Avery Fisher Hall, among other highly ranked venues in New York City.
