Andrea MacDonald

Andrea has a varied musical background in performance and administration. As a vocalist she has performed as a soloist, in choirs, pop bands, and background vocal recording. She was a member of the Balinese orchestra, Gamelan Gita Asmara for seven years. She joined the Board of the RedShift Music Society in 2011 and was President from 2013 to 2015.
In 2004 Andrea took up recorder and began playing in a variety of duets, trios, and quartets. She joined the ten-member Jupiter Players in 2010 and took over management of the group in 2016. Andrea was President of the BC Recorder Society from 2018 to 2022. In 2020, she elected to start recorder over from the beginning with the Suzuki method and later began the process of teacher certification.
Andrea is passionate about teaching and life-long learning. She began instructing in the IT industry in 1998 and later formed a business teaching digital literacy to seniors. As a music teacher, Andrea has a special interest ear training, and in helping those with visual learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, that make sight reading difficult. She teaches both children and adults.
