Ms. Alissa L. Rieb
Violin, Viola, Suzuki in the Schools Teacher
Hi there!
My students call me “Ms. Alissa”. I maintain a large private studio (ABQstrings) in Albuquerque with students of all ages in violin and viola. I am also the general music teacher at Our Montessori School. I currently enjoy playing in the Albuquerque Philharmonic.
I started as an apprentice teacher at Northern Arizona University in 1998 and have been encouraging students ever since. That’s where I received my music degree. I have gone on to complete many hours of professional development in teaching excellence and alternative styles as well.
My students are in all levels of our local Youth Symphony program and past students have accomplished both scholarship and even conservatory level work. ABQstrings’ musicians regularly choose to participate in their school orchestras, give regular recitals and perform for outside events.
I am a past recipient of the “Emerging String Teacher of the Year” award for the state of Nevada from the American String Teachers’ Association. I have also received community awards for my outreach programs. I am most proud of the award I received from my student’s High School for being a “Teacher of a Lifetime”.
My husband and I like to travel, attend concerts, expand the record collection, read, and camp!
I look forward to our musical journey together…
