Alice Wright Belden
Violin Teacher
Alice Wright Belden enjoys teaching the Suzuki way, books 1-8. She’s been doing this since 2006, having performed on violin since age 9. She has played with the Shreveport Symphony, Anchorage Symphony, and more recently Anchorage Civic Orchestra; also groups called Country Gospel and Arctic Strings. She and her late husband, Dr. George Belden sang with the Anchorage Concert Chorus.
Alice retired from the Anchorage School District, and has taught general music, orchestra, special education, regular and bilingual education. She recently relocated to the twin cities of Minnesota, where she performs weekly at Norris Square Sr. Living. She has also re-established her music studio in Cottage Grove this year, and is welcoming new students.
She is co-author, with LaVon Bridges, of the children’s book of songs and poems—ALASKA ANIMALS, WE LOVE YOU and ALASKA ANIMALS, WE LOVE YOU 2. These pieces employ the Orff instruments, as well as spoken ostinatos. These books are ideal for classrooms, and for young children who like to sing and who love animals. The words of the songs are accurate scientifically. Each book includes a CD, and can also be heard on YouTube.
