Alexandre Desjeunes

Alexandre Desjeunes began playing violin at age 3, and performed his very first concert at age 5.
Originally from France, Alexandre completed his musical education at a Conservatory in Paris and the Paris Suzuki Violin School. There, he obtained his diploma in Violin Musical Studies from the Paris Conservatory, as well as a Bachelor of Music. Once in Montreal, he completed a master’s degree in Management of Cultural Enterprises at the HEC. At the same time, he took the opportunity to be trained in the Suzuki method by Karen Kimmet and Paule Barsalou and become a Suzuki violin teacher.

Passionate about improvisation, Alexandre spent 5 years in France doing internships with well-known jazz violinist Didier Lockwood. It was only in Montreal in 2018 that he discovered Creative Ability Development, a method which uses musical improvisation as a tool to develop self expression, and teach students to create together, collaborating on ideas through various exercises and non-competitive games. Alexandre was recently trained in this method by Laura Nerenberg, and he now incorporates it into his teaching practice.

He has teaches at the McGill Conservatory, the Stewart Hall in Pointe-Claire, the Préville Center of Art and privately. Since the pandemy, he created the Studio MusicAlex.
