Ms. Akiko Kojima
Violin Teacher
Akiko Kojima is a professional violinist and experienced teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area, and loving mother to an energetic, strong-headed 11-year-old boy.
Akiko studied with Ian Swensen at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she received her Master of Music and Professional Studies Diploma. She completed her Bachelor of Music from the University of Toronto. Her pedagogy training includes Indiana University’s String Pedagogy workshop with Mimi Zweig and Brenda Brenner, and registered Suzuki training with Cathryn Lee.
Akiko is a member of numerous Bay Area ensembles including Marin Symphony and California Symphony, and performs with touring acts such as Phantom of the Opera at the Orpheum Theatre and the Eagles Hotel California tour at the Chase Center.
Certified in the Suzuki Violin Method, Units 1-6, Mimi Zweig’s String Pedagogy Method and the Sassmannshaus Method, Akiko enjoys tailoring instruction to each student’s needs. She continues to learn about different methods and resources in order to provide the best for each student.
