Abigail Peterson has been playing the violin since the age of 4, studying Suzuki violin with Paula Anderson in New Ulm, Minnesota and Terry Bjorklund in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. She continued her violin study with Mark Bjork at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
Abigail currently performs with the Milwaukee Philharmonic as the orchestra’s concertmaster. She also plays with the Kettle Moraine Symphony Orchestra and fills in with the Wisconsin Philharmonic and the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra occasionally. Her past orchestral experience includes playing with the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra from 2000-2006 and playing in both the University Symphony and Campus String Orchestras at the University of Minnesota. She also has a large amount of small ensemble experience playing with the Pit Orchestra at Wisconsin Lutheran High School, the Lutheran Chorale of Milwaukee, and chamber ensembles in high school and college. She has also coached a small string ensemble at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Muskego, Wisconsin.
In addition to studying at the University of Minnesota, she continues to pursue violin teaching education. In 2011, she attended the Violin Teacher Workshop at the String Academy of Wisconsin. She has taken short-term teacher training with Michele George, Joanne Melvin, and Nancy Jackson. She is trained through Book 5 and looks forward to taking training for all of the books. She has also completed Suzuki Early Childhood Stages 1 and 2 training with Sharon Jones.
Ms. Peterson currently teaches private Suzuki lessons in Greenfield, Wisconsin and teaches as part of a string program in a few area private schools.
