The SAA and Alfred Music are partnering to offer members of the Suzuki community a webinar series for those committed to the Suzuki philosophy, music education, and lifelong learning. With opportunities for students, parents, and teachers, each session challenges artists to think creatively and build better musical practices in community with one another. Translations are available. In case you missed it, you can view the replay from our last session here!
Upcoming Sessions:
Music, Mayhem, & Memories: Friday, February 17th, 2023 10a-11a PT
Led by Barbie Wong
This session is great for Suzuki parents. Please invite any parents from your studios.
About this session: What can Yo-Yo Ma, Elton John, and Dolly Parton teach us about inspiring kids to make music? Plenty, despite their very different backgrounds. The similarities in their early environments reveal the passion that each of these accomplished artists developed for music and their ability to sustain it throughout their lives. This session offers parents tools to best support their students in their learning journey and encourages them to embrace their love of life-long learning.
Suzuki: The Man and His Dream to Teach the Children of the World: Monday, March 13th, 2023 from 10a-11a PT
Registration coming soon
Featuring Eri Hotta and Kristen Krauss
About this session: Eri Hotta’s book Suzuki: The Man and His Dream to Teach the Children of the World offers us new insight into the story of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki along with a beautiful reminder of his conviction that all children have a tremendous capacity to learn. Dr. Suzuki’s story offers not only a fresh perspective on early childhood education but also a gateway to the fraught history of musical border drawing and to the makings of a globally influential life in Japan’s tumultuous twentieth century. Join Eri, along with Kristen Krauss, her daughter’s own Suzuki teacher, in conversation about the book, its relevance, and how we can continue to build Dr. Suzuki’s dream.
