The SAA is delighted to welcome the North Carolina Suzuki Association as our newest Chapter Affiliate! At the SAA Leadership Retreat in May we recognized the North Carolina chapter President, Karen Moorman, and presented the new chapter with a certificate and warm welcome. The North Carolina Suzuki Association was started over 20 years ago in 1983, and is an active association of over 90 members offering a number of Suzuki events to the community and state including a very successful play-in this past March where Suzuki students, parents and teachers gathered at the beautiful east Campus at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. At the event students participate in play-ins, repertoire classes, fiddling, and celebrate with a grand finale concert. The eleventh such event in their history, this play-in was unique in that it marked the beginning of their rebirth as North Carolina Suzuki Association. Our bi-annual Leadership Retreat in Toronto, Canada, was a great success for our Chapter Affiliate program. Representatives from every chapter were in attendance and shared ideas, the wisdom of many years of experience and a great deal of positive energy. Thank you to all that participated—it is amazing to see the effort put forth by dedicated Suzuki Chapters, and it was rejuvenating to get together!
