Alfred Music, distributor of Suzuki Method materials, is excited to announce several updates to Suzuki products:
Updates to Suzuki Violin School Materials
The recording of Suzuki Violin School, Volume 1 featuring artist William Preucil charted #7 on the Billboard Traditional Classical Album list in September 2014! Following the same exceptional quality of the first several volumes, we are happy to announce that the Suzuki Violin School, Revised, Volume 7 is now available in the US and will be available worldwide, excluding Japan, by the end of December. The hard work of the Violin Committee is evident! The revised volume features a CD recorded by Cleveland Orchestra Concertmaster William Preucil, as well as piano accompaniments recorded by Linda Perry. Available components include the violin part, accompaniment part, CD, book/CD kit.
Individual books have also been created for Violin Accompaniment Volumes 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 replacing Volume B. Volumes 6 and 7 contain the newly revised accompaniments, while Volumes 8-10 include the current accompaniments in individual binding.
Indexed Edition of Nurtured by Love
A scholarly index, compiled and donated by Zachary Ebin, has been added to Nurtured by Love (Revised Edition). The new printings of the book with the index can be identified by referring to the AMPV number, 1.0, on the title page. The original Nurtured by Love will soon also contain an index, donated by Ebin, at its next printing in the spring. This update will increase the use of the text in scholarship. Ebin explains, “In order to promote research into the Suzuki® Method, researchers need to have easier access to the information inside Nurtured by Love. For that reason, I have created an index for this revised edition to assist anyone interested in researching topics relating to Suzuki pedagogy.”
Digital Downloads and Ebooks
Many Suzuki recordings are now available as digital downloads, and further digital downloads are planned to be added each year. Recordings are available on Amazon MP3 for download by individual track or album, or in the iTunes store.
In addition, many ebooks have been created for use on iPad® and Mac® with play-along audio tracks embedded right on the page alongside the corresponding music notation. Several commonly used supplemental texts are also available as ebooks. The Apple iBooks® store home page for Suzuki iBooks has recently been set up and contains all method and supplemental books that are currently available in ebook format. Method and supplemental materials may be separated in the future.
Note: Alfred must work within constraints of Apple formatting and Naxos distribution. We attempt to customize all our digital products based on content but do not have complete control.
Book/CD Kits
Alfred continues to create book/CD kits for volumes that have not previously had this option. Those recently added include Viola Volumes 1- 4, Cello Volumes 1-4, and Bass Volumes 1-3.
