Gay has been teaching piano for many years. Her Suzuki teacher training, which began in the 1990’s, was with Mary Craig Powell in Columbus, Ohio. Although she is now a full-time piano teacher and performer, she has also spent many years teaching music in public and parochial schools. She has a Bachelor’s in Music and a Master’s degree in Piano Performance in jazz.
She performs with her own jazz trio (The Gay Galvin Trio) and was the founding director of the Yuba Sutter Big Band. She also directs the Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture Children’s Choir. As a natural outgrowth of her love of jazz, she teaches improvisation in addition to Suzuki and traditional Classical music.
